Biography

Daniel Cohen is the General Music Director of the Staatstheater Darmstadt since 2018 and has recently prolonged his tenure in Darmstadt until the season 2026-27. Recent highlights include the acclaimed production of Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde directed by Eva-Maria Höckmayr at the Staatstheater Darmstadt, a new production of Batistelli's Teorema at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and guest performances at the Bregenz Festival (Don Quichotte / Rigoletto) and Norwegian Opera (Marriage of Figaro / Barber of Seville). His Symphony work has led bim to such orchestras as the Israeli Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, MDR Symphony Leipzig, Münchner Symphoniker and the Helsinki Philharmonic among others. This season Daniel Cohen will be making his debut with the English National Opera in London, and the New National Theater Tokyo.
